Are you gonna have any warranty on the car? If so and you want to use the warranty it's the only BB you can use. That's to say if your engine blows up and you've got another make of BB on (unless you swap it over before the garage gets the car) you won't be warrantied.

However, if you get an unrelated warranty problem with your car say sratches on window - it is covered even if you have a non standard BB.

At the end of the day the Prodrive BB gives a bit more noise and IMHO is overpriced for what it is, go out and get an aftermarket system ;)

I am thinking about getting a P1 back box or one of the scoobysport ones

The scoobysport ones are slightly louder from memory mate, Best thing to do is have a listen to a few and see how loud you wanna go and what sound you like best

Do you know if there is much difference between to two apart from noise?
E.g. power gains / quality of the exhaust

wouldnt have thought that there was much (if any) difference in power gains mate (unless you go for the scoobysport center section as well  ) as for build quality I can vouch for the SS ones but the P1 WR upgrade is a really nice quality backbox :D

Hope this helps a little bit!

I've got a SS BB on mine, and have just tried to extend the warranty at the old local dealership.

I was told that unless all parts are subaru or prodrive, then the warranty would be void. Managed to argue my way around the brembo brakes, but the SS BackBox is a different question.

They didn't say that I couldn't buy the warranty, but that doesn't mean that IM would pay out if things went wrong.

Then again, I could always borrow a BB before getting it fixed.

Chris

IM would have to prove the b/box caused the prob (v unlikely). Agreed, if in doubt, just keep the orig and put it back on if anything goes wrong!

The standard system is pants imo
