Lets be honest, you can't really come onto a P1 forum hoping to get an unbiased view, afetr all, we all bought P1's, if you go on the lancerregister, they all bought Evo's and so on.

Best thing is to go and drive them all.

Evo probably the best to drive but cost **** loads to run and are uncomfortable as a day to day car.

VW supposedly nice & civilised and lots of creature comforts, quite quick but not comparible with the other 2 in terms of driving experience.

I love the P1, fast, relatively comfortable for what it is, running costs high but not astronomical and THAT engine note, should keep good money now too, as long as warranty is kept up to date.

Drive all 3.

I think the gold is a really nice car but it doesn't really stand out that much (depends on what you like though). Also you will get loads of people in there 1.4 golfs putting an R32 kit on them and that would really anoy me, IMO.

The evo is a nice car but too many doors for my liking and the service intervals are at 3.5k or something like that.

I think the P1 is a great car and obviously I am bias in some ways.

Go and test drive them all and see what you think.

forget the R32 imo, when before i bought the P1 i tried virtually every car i could find a dealership of that could do 60 in under 6 seconds.

some of the cars i tested where:

Lotus Elise - its a go kart on the road, but no space at all for anythin, and you look like a dick getting out of it

Evo6 - Tried the Makkinen edition,oh my god what a power curve! if it didnt grip so well, you would have white knuckles jsut taking out of the garage! but like dave says, too many doors, and servicing every 4.5k - i dont have the finance to run one.

Alfa 147 GTA - it looks absolutley stunning in red, the seating is ace, that V6... oh what a V6! it sound better then it looks! superb. BUT Torque steer from 240horses on the front wheels is too much....

BMW M3 E36 - lovely car, but i saw another 8 while on my test drive!!!!

BMW Z4 - nice drive, felt a bit gay driving it... no thanks

Golf R32 - very well buitl, solid and comfortable and powerfull... but im looking for car thats feels in tune with the roads, not a car that goes really quick but you feel uninspired... too soft for me.

CLIO 172 CUp - Pocket rocket, but im too big to be driving a va va voom...

Honda S2000 - mental! stupidly high revving engine... lovely grip, nice power range. but i tried the orignial with the not-so -well -tuned chassis... didnt like the way it rode on bumps much, plus it had a stupid plastic rear screen. might have to go back and try the tuned one now...

Audi TT - great car, nice power, nice grip. but the grip donet communicat as well as it does in the S3. and they are getting a bit common now....

Audi S3 - same power as TT (225), best seats i'd sat in at the time.... full leather recaros... yum! sterring is pin point and very well communicated throught the wheel... didnt feel like head throwing power that some of these others had.. with too graduall.... had a noisey turbo too...

Subaru P1 - having tried all of the above and more, i bought one of these... has virtually all the pros of the others minus a lot of the cons.... the best package £20k can buy at the mo...!

Hope this helps...

HI dbarr1980

I am the same i just got mine about 3 weeks ago.

But my problem is i already have a list of mod's to go for and i have already started changing thing's on it.

Esspesially with the group buys and all the nick knacks that this lot have on the go at the moment.

Will have to meet up. Are you going to go the the National meet in Febuary???

Kev Deffo up for a Scottish P1 meet good to see how many would turn up esspeciall y at Knockhill as there is always a few go any way.

Cheers Dougie :o :D  8)

I think from the spec you have listed, the first thing would be to get rid of the cat from the downpipes - a new set from Scoobysport (decat) would be a good choice - very popular. This will give you a quicker turbo spool up time due to the lack of restriction. However you'll have to have a "special arrangement" for your MOT

How much £ would this set me back then :?

Not sure mate - mine already had it fitted when I got it.

Have a look at http://www.scoobysport.co.uk/exhaustsstd.htm

Also look on Scoobtnet - you should be able to find one for sale or perhaps even a Group Buy - you could look into organising one yourself and save extra money as the organiser.

Hope this helps
