Right. What are you planning in the way of other mods to the car to run along with the turbo??
If you are not touching the internals, ie keeping stock rods, pistons, crank etc....
Then you can only really run 1.5bar max Boost. Any more will kill the motor eventually.
This limits your turbo choice.
The 2x turbos you mention, are really for cars that are running upwards of 1.5bar boost for them to behave properly. They will be abit laggy at anything under 1.6-7bar +
The P20 exhaust housing is the larger of the 2, (P18) being the other. The 20 can ultimately flow more, thus creating more power, but the trade off is as always, more lag, and slower spooling..
Ask the experts, and they will always tell you to choose the smallest possible turbo for the bhp figure you are aiming for.
Ie, in your case, I suspect like me, that you want 400bhp, yet keep the standard internals.
So, in that case, I would go for the same turbo that Marky Mark, and Marty are running.
This is the GT/VF Hybrid from RogerClarke Motorsport, with the P18 housing. The P20 would be abit large for 1.5bar IMHO.
Also, when/if you do speak to RCM about it, you will need the Inlet Pipe to go with it. Also, see if they will do a discount for 2x of the Turbo's, as I would love one too, but can't afford it at the mo! :( :P

yeah i have done Dave i just need to know a bit more about these too
edited as i pickle got there first...lol
pickle you have near enough hit the nail on the head and if you want to do a deal on 2 of these turbo's then thats fine with me i dont have the cash right now but once we both have we shall do a deal  i will contact RCM in the morning as a ball park figure and will let you know :D
and i totaly agree that aturbo works best whilst maxed out with minimal lag
thanks

fellas,i`m saving up for the same turbo.maybe its cheaper if there were 3 of us.hope you don`t mind me butting in.
i`ve been told that the p20 housing is more suited to a 2.5l engine than the p18 which is suited to the 2.0l

I have the GT35 p18 on mine running 1.45bar 360-370 bhp at 1.9bar it will produce 410bhp.RCM have told me that 380 is maximum power on the standard conrods, any more and they will come through the block. The turbo alone cost £1,600 plus the fitting kit.I will be ditching this turbo next year and going the twisted route,so i will be selling this turbo next year.

I honestly dont think you will get any discount from RCM to be honest Matt. They dont seem to be the sort of company who does group buys etc...
As Marty said, the Turbo is around £1400 + fitting kit, + Inlet Hose etc...
I would like one of these turbo's BUT It would need to be a good price to make me change from the Hybrid Im using at the moment.
Just a thought! I'm sure Mark will voice his view when he returns. ;)

RCM discount is a no no
You will spend around £1000 for a 400bhp turbo.
Can source a very good garrett for you if interested :D

hey guys,
bit early for me to give a definitive ok on this turbo, will know more when im back home and mapped on august 20th. but it all feels good so far i have to say
pickles comments on the previous page about turbo selection are spot on though. what is the point running a 500 bhp turbo at less than 400 horsepower. it will just be to laggy.
as said before as well, as you start to get over 350bhp, the standard P1 bottom end is a bit marginal. the new age botom end in mine will be a fair bit better, but to run 400 bhp reliably you need conrods and pistons IMO.
this is why i chose the garret P18. it will still work well at the lower boost levels using cast pistons. it will be interesting to see what boost bob maps mine at with the slightly better subaru forged jobbies in.
as for the cost.......well RCM aint cheap for sure. obviously i dont know what you have been qouted but pickle knows what i paid for mine  , and i think you will struggle to get discount out of RCM unless you are in a position to help them out in various ways, which rather fortunately i was / am!

Ill get you boys some garretts for prices that will make you cry.
Forget RCM/GGR, their prices are so high (even though they can get away with it as their work is spot on) that any discount, you can still pick up cheaper elsewhere. Just got to look guys!!!
Jonesting, drop me a PM or email when you get a chance. need to chat to you about something :D
