bob,
I'm in the same situation as you. Warranty just ran out. Been toying with the idea of a downpipe plus remap. As mark says swindon isn't far and bob is supposed to be one of the best. Let us know how you get on and I may follow down the same path.
P.S I've seen the odd P1 around worcester, including the white one.

Is it worth changing the exhaust centre section if the down pipe is being changed?
I know the P1 has no cat in the centre section but didn't know if it would restict flow more than an aftermarket straight through pipe.
I was considering going the same route ie decat down pipe and TEK 3 remap.
I already have a scooby sport back box.
Graham.

I've not had mine mapped yet & it's at 60k, it may well get a map, but probably after a new engine ;)
Anyway, my 2 cents:
If you're taking it to Bob to be mapped then first I'd do everything I could to get the absolute best results possible. So I would:
1. Decat downpipe
2. Put stock recirc DV back on
3. Fit 3 port boost solenoid
4. Fit 255 fuel pump
5. Fit SX FPR
6. Check the plugs
7. Do an oil service, then finally:
8. Turn up with only optimax in the tank (no O.B.)
Then you can be sure that you had the car as good as possible for the remap & should get the most from it.
This is what I plan to do anyway :D
Cheers!

But what about the exhaust centre section? or is this not worth changing.
What advantage does a three port boost solenoid offer?
Does it just make the mapping easier or does it actually make a difference after mapping too?

Bob likes the 3 port solenoid for "finer boost control". I also hear (but can't confirm) that they're less likely to gunk up with oil.
Anyone confirm this?
As for the centre section...I dunno...mine came with a gasflowed downpipe & straight through after that to a blitz nur.
BARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Cheers!

There are mappers and there are mappers. If you look at the rolling road day some of us went to a while back, my car had almost identical mods to Marky Mark's car (in fact Mark had headers fitted which i didn't) - but mine made 320bhp whereas Marks made around 305bhp. Mine was mapped by Bob Rawle and Marks wasn't.
I'm not saying that was all down to the differnece in mapper, but i'd put money on it being a big factor. After my first dyno run the guy drving looked at me and said "Bob Rawle mapped this didn't he"
If I was getting another remap done, the only people I'd consider are Bob Rawle or Andy Forrest.
Oh, and Bob prefers people to have a decent quality fully synthetic oil in the car before he maps it. Something like Motul 300v Competition 15/50 or Castrol RS 10/60 etc.

Iwan,
sorry mate, you are normally bang on but my car was mapped by bob at that point, in fact only a couple of weeks before. i think mine was a little down due to nacked exhaust valve seats, but i didnt know that at the time.
If you remember, Terry B's (maped by bob i think) gave 300 on the same day, same spec as yours but without an induction kit!
I think you have a very healthy one full stop.

Sorry mate I do apologise, my memory is obviously going! Thing is I was talking to lots of people that day, it must have been someone else who was telling me about a Tek3 by another company (Pat?).
Ignore my comments above!

Im thinking of having a remap in the next couple of weeks but i have a few questions? I live up near manchester and don't fancy a trek down to swindon, who can i trust to do a decent job of this up norff? secondly should i stick with the original centre section and how much roughly will this cost me, thinking of a downpipe, sti panel filter and tek3.

Downpipe, filter and remap should see you around 300bhp and cost about £650 + VAT if I remember correctly.
Not sure who in your area maps cars, TSL perhaps??? No idea what there like TBH.

Bob does map up at Roger Clark motorsport once a month near Leicester. You can do it at brungtingthorpe (nice and safe, no police, but costs extra) or on the roads and if you don’t fancy the driving Olly or Matt will do the piloting for you.
Im not sure if you have to have any work done or buy anything off RCM first though TBH.
Andy Forrest is in Scotland but IIRC will travel.
For me personally, they would be the only 2 people I would consider.
Up your way the only person I can think of is Steve Simpson who maps on the rollers at TEG sport and finishes off on the roads. Im not 100% certain he does Ecutek though.
Thanks for the replies. I have sent BRdevelopments an email to see how soon i can have this done. :D
